Last Friday morning, Nils Mönkemeyer and I visited in the Maria-Sibylla-Merian-Gymnasium in Krefeld. After the concert on Thursday, which also was a nice reception, then there is a already so before it came alsob still middle of the night was ... At breakfast waiting Sabine von Imhoff, project manager of the project's "Rhapsody in School" to me even then with a strong cup of coffee. It was the first time that Nils and I took part in this great project that was founded on the initiative of the pianist Lars Vogt.
Many orchestra musicians are now regularly in schools, present your instrument, and talk about music - and here at the Lower Rhenish Symphony in Krefeld / Mönchengladbach is an absolutely outstanding educational program developed by the orchestral musicians and the concert playwright Stephanie Riemenschneider. Lars Vogt asked why soloists and conductors who are longer in a certain area in the morning is gonna wind up anyway just in the hotel room, really not able to provide a social contribution report, and in a music lesson of your passions. Many of our colleagues have joined this great project. And I was just the first conductor.
We had not really discussed, just last week us to pass the time ideas like "Cage's 4'33" and "piano stool move up" and "viola execute Page", etc. until the 13th Minute of the lesson talked ... :-) But it went off spontaneously and very fluently ... Date We played two songs by Schumann and Mendelssohn, the Nile then on Saturday is for Sony, and we have to keep telling about our professions. Nils has played a lot, and a very authentic and inspiring way - demonstrated his instrument, and the children were allowed to try it - just as he is holding! I then told a lot about the profession of a conductor, and of course with the children made music together. The teacher had the final song of 9 Beethoven prepared and the students have sung in a touching way in many musical versions under the direction of your co-students Tim and Liam, with orchestral accompaniment of the "Nils Symphony"!
On Friday evening there was still a very intense atmosphärreiches and last concert of the Lower Rhine in Krefeld Symphony Orchestra - and again all were really like! It was a wonderful experience to be able to give four concerts in a row, while trying out a lot. The orchestra responded well, and it was really great fun! By the way, on Thursday were even "Hagen fans" here! ...
Now I'm finally back to my apartment to Amsterdam, after several weeks have been back from home. I am extremely happy now spend some time in this beautiful city can be - though I hope that the electrician or plumbing hastens: this morning in the shower, I then found that the temperature of the shower water could not be put on Siberian conditions. ..!... Well, at least I'm awake now ...
